Herbal Medicine Level 2: Outdoor Herbal Studies, Oct 2021 – May 2022

We're sorry, but all tickets sales have ended because the event is expired.

If you have some herbalism experience and want to focus on local wild plants and immersing yourself in our botanical bioregion while learning directly from the plants, this is the class for you! What we will NOT cover in this class is all the fundamentals of herbalism. If you are a beginner and you want to learn ALL about herbalism, please sign up for Level 1: Herbal Foundations.

Our main focus will be the practical applications of local plant medicine. Classes will include: plant identification, practical experience using a botanical key, organoleptic testing using our 5 senses, communing with plant consciousness, discovering bioregional plant guilds, and plant family recognition. This class will be held outdoors in various wild and/or cultivated places around Austin and central Texas. Carpooling will be coordinated when class locations are finalized. We will meet for 18 Saturdays and 2 Wild Immersion Weekends from October 2021 through May 2022.

PREREQUISITES
Completion of Level 1: Herbal Foundations (or an equivalent herbalism program), OR related experience in herbal medicine making, gardening, permaculture or naturalism. If you are brand new to herbalism, please check out our Level 1: Herbal Foundations class. Level 1 and Level 2 meet together on Saturdays. If you have questions regarding your qualifications, please contact us.

Course Updates due to Covid-19:

While learning about plants and gaining a deep understanding of herbal medicines is always of value, we feel that during a pandemic it is especially valuable. This is an important time to be doing this work and we are committed to continuing our classes in engaging and safe ways.

The greater Herbal Community is by and large united in our commitment to flattening the curve. With that in mind, we are making sure that all Sacred Journey School of Herbalism classes are operating in accordance with the guidelines suggested by the American Herbalists Guild and our Local & State Governments.

While we cannot see the future, we are basing our plans on the current guidelines and will always have the option to adjust if they become more or less restrictive at any time. It is our goal to have as much outdoor time together as a class as safety allows, however we have experience from Spring 2020 teaching the course entirely online and guiding students in their individual outdoor explorations and know that is a viable option if needed. If you have any questions or concerns that you would like address, please feel free to contact us.
