Our Herbalist Clinical Theater is an opportunity to learn how to (1) learn Michael Moore’s system of Constitutional Physiology; (2) learn herbal clinician Ginger Webb’s drop-dose technique for creating custom formulations; (3) experience and learn from Ginger through in-person consultations with real humans; (4) conduct your own herbal consultations and get feedback from Ginger and the class; (5) go in depth with Ginger on other topics relevant to individual and public health, such as insulin resistance (“prediabetes”) and food intolerances; and (6) experience the guided process of Food Elimination and Rechallenge (as taught by Ginger’s teacher, clinical medical herbalist Paul Bergner) with your fellow students over the span of 40+ days.
Two options available for attendance (as long as Covid protocols allow): (1) in person at Earth Commons in Austin, and (2) via Zoom. We may need to limit the number of in-person participants due to space constraints, so please let us know whether you plan to attend in person or on zoom (generally speaking).
Michael Moore created a system of Constitutional Physiology that attempts to address sub-clinical deficiencies and excesses in human organ systems. He also created an intake form that allows a clinician to quickly suss out some of the patterns of deficiency/excess in a client, and an herbal guide (aka the “cheat sheet”) that suggests herbs that will work in formulation for that person. Ginger will spend several sessions teaching this system, and then several sessions practicing it in clinical theater. In addition, Ginger will demonstrate (and students participants will get to witness) Ginger’s “one drop” test with the client, administering one drop of a particular tincture, to see how the client responds. This is a powerful way to gain confidence in the herbs we choose for the final formula, as well as a powerful way for the client to trust the process: they feel the energy of the herb in their own body/energy, and they get to decide if that herb is one they want to work with. Finally, we will go through a prolonged formulation process for each client. ***We will be choosing clients from among the student participants in the class (as well as our communities if needed) to participate in the clinical theater, receiving a free consultation and custom herbal formulation(s).
Student participation in the clinical theater is primarily watch-and-learn (particularly in the beginning), although questions and insights will be welcomed if they feel particularly important or relevant. The intention of the theater is to be able to experience Ginger’s method for conducting an intake so that you can take that and run with it, adding your own flavor of brilliance and intuition.
Tuition includes: (1) in-person or zoom attendance in all classes; (2) a printed, spiral bound copy of several Michael Moore manuals that we utilize in class (and are great resources to refer to throughout your herbal career) (3) opportunity to volunteer for a live consultation slot (consultation with Ginger and custom herbal formula); (4) access to class recordings (for review or if you miss a class); (5) single herb tinctures and glycerites at wholesale prices while in session; (6) opportunity for clinical mentorship with Ginger after finishing the course.
