Virtual Kitchen Witchery 101: Medicine Making, Thursdays Jan – Feb 2021

You know you just want to make things in the kitchen, don’t you? You can make herbal medicine at home without a lot of exotic ingredients and fancy tools.

In this home kitchen-based class, we’ll explore 6 types of herbal preparations, including the reasons why we utilize each and how to prepare them. You’ll leave feeling empowered to create and experiment with making your own plant medicines at home for yourself, your family and beyond. Each class includes instructions, demonstrations, recipes and 1-3 herbal goodies.

This class is taught by local herbalist Lauren Peterson, a Juniper-lover, Sacred Journey School of Herbalism graduate, and owner of White Deer Apothecary. Lauren’s passion for plants grew from her desire to deepen her connection with the natural world and nurture relationships that allow healing to take place. Her favorite places to be are outdoors, in the kitchen, and on the dance floor.

$150 Past Student Special- for folks who have already taken a Kitchen Witchery 101 class in the past and would like to revisit the material without supplies provided. 

Kitchen Witchery 101: Medicine Making meets for 6 consecutive Thursday evenings, 6:30 – 8:30 online via Zoom. Recordings will be made available for students to watch up to one month afterward.

Class materials will be made available for local pickup in Austin or will be shipped to you. All herbs and jars are provided with the exception of menstruums- alcohol, vinegar, olive oil, beeswax and honey. Students will receive a detailed list of what they will need to follow along for each class. A list of recommended kitchen items (most you probably already have) will be sent after registration.

Jan 14: Vinegars/ Shrubs/ Oxymels
Extract herbs for alcohol-free medicine, food, and refreshing drinks.

Jan 21: Herbal Teas
Brew and blend your own tasty & therapeutic herbal teas.

Jan 28: Tinctures/ Cordials
Create and formulate extracts from fresh or dry plants.

Feb 4: Syrups
Simmer and preserve sweet medicines.

Feb 11: Honeys
Preserve aromatics and create delicious medicines.

Feb 18: Oils/ Salves
Infuse oils for body care and topical medicinal use.

CLASS REFUND POLICY
Deposits and class payments are non-refundable, but may be used toward future classes within a one year period if you contact us to withdraw at least 2 weeks BEFORE the class begins. If you withdraw after this time period, all payments made are not refundable or transferrable AND your full balance is still due if your payment plan is not complete. Please understand that your tuition pays for a seat during that school year and that is why we have to stick to this policy. If you have to miss classes, we will work with you to help you make up the material.
