Did you know Juniper can be used for herbal-infused salves, smoke bundles & more?
Where we live in Central Texas, we are surrounded by Juniper (commonly called "Cedar" in these parts). These resilient trees are adapted to so many different environments, it's likely that some grow where you live, too. You may not have the best relationship depending on the severity of your allergies, but our friend Juniper has been appreciated by humans for her medicine and magic for thousands of years all over the globe.
In this class, we'll get to know Juniper better through a discussion of her history of use. Then we'll talk about her bad reputation and clear up some nasty rumors. Finally, we'll explore how to work with the scent of her leaves and berries and make our own smoke bundles and quick infused oil salve the Michael Moore way.
“The aromatic properties of all parts of Juniper plants have been used against bad magic, plague, and various negative influences in so many cultures, from the Letts to the Chinese to the Pueblo Indians, that there would seem to be some validity to considering the scent as beneficial in general to the human predicament.” -Michael Moore
