Herbalist, Educator and Author of The Curanderx Toolkit: Reclaiming Ancestral Latinx Plant Medicine and Rituals for Healing.
Atava is guided by her dreams and her Mexican, New Mexican, Polish, and Hungarian ancestors. She works as a clinical herbalist and teacher and is dedicated to remembering the healing traditions of her ancestors and supporting others to reconnect with their own ancestral medicine.
Atava studied Feminist Studies at Stanford University and received her master’s degree in the Indigenous Mind Program at Naropa University Oakland. Atava has studied healing arts extensively for over thirty years and has been mentored by herbalists, curanderas and traditional knowledge keepers. She was the founder of the Ancestral Apothecary School of Herbal, Folk and Indigenous Medicine in Oakland, CA where she trained hundreds of curanderx and herbalists.
Atava loves helping people build relationships with plants, whom she considers some of our greatest teachers and healers. She has family roots in Detroit, lived for three decades in Oakland, CA, and now dwells in the high desert of New Mexico with her wife and cat.

We will discuss the mysterious, healing and transformative power of dreams. Learn about the different types of dreams and practices to support dream recall. We’ll discuss ways to incorporate plant medicine into your dream life.

Building a Dreaming Toolkit for Healers and Curanderx
Are you a dreamer? Are you curious about ways to work with your dreams as a source of healing and guidance? In this day long workshop, we will learn and practice techniques to enhance your dreamwork and develop yourself as a dream healer. Discover the ancient dream traditions of Mexico and learn practices from this tradition. Learn ways to creatively engage with your dreams such as journaling, art and dream sharing. We’ll discuss how to incubate dreams for healing & guidance. We will meditate with dream plants to help open our energies to the dream world and share dreams with one another. We will explore the mysterious world of the collective dream as a source of collective healing and evolution.
Class time includes ceremony, lecture, journaling, discussion, plant meditation and dream sharing. Expect some of the time to be spent with class attendants sharing personal experiences. Please bring your dream journal if you have one or a dream which you would like to explore more deeply. We will take a 1 hour break for lunch.

Deposits and class payments are non-refundable, but may be used toward future classes within a one year period if you contact us to withdraw at least 2 weeks BEFORE the class begins. If you withdraw after this time period, all payments made are not refundable or transferrable AND your full balance is still due if your payment plan is not complete. Please understand that your tuition pays for a seat during this session and that is why we have to stick to this policy.
