INTRO COURSE: OUTDOORS

WILD TEXAS HERBALISM

Learn plant identification, Texas botany, and spend time outdoors with like minded people.

A wonderful place to begin your studies and an excellent way to deepen your knowledge if you have already dabbled in herbalism. No prior herbal experience is necessary to join us on this journey.

Taught by Ginger Webb, along with Lauren Peterson, apprentice teachers, and guest teachers from the community, we delve into the wild places in central Texas to learn the native and wild flora of our beloved ecosystems.

Classes are held in various wild and cultivated places throughout central Texas, all within an hour of central Austin. Our locations include private ranch lands, local and state parks, organic farms and private cultivated gardens. Over the years, we have developed deep relationships with landowners who invite Sacred Journey School classes to visit and practice ethical wild harvesting.

Sacred Journey School of Herbalism Founder Ginger Webb is passionate about connecting people with herbs and other wild plants, and is dedicated to empowering a generation of new herbalists. Wild Texas Herbalism taken along with Intro to Herbalism forms the complete Foundations of Herbalism Course (a prerequisite for all advanced courses).

Frequently Asked Questions about Wild Texas Herbalsim

Yes! Wild Texas Herbalism is designed for folks who are new to herbalism and those who have done some self study or shorter classes. This class gives a well-rounded perspective on many aspects of herbalism and teaches you how to identify wild medicinal plants. We will also cover how to make and utilize these plant medicines.

TAUGHT BY: Ginger Webb

All classes taught by Austin TX community herbalist Ginger Webb. Ginger has been deeply immersed in the study of herbs in central Texas for 30+ years and has supported hundreds to reconnect with the plant world as medicine. Since 2012, Sacred Journey School of Herbalism has offered in-depth herbalist programs to interested folx and new herbalists.

The school reflects Ginger’s deep love for the plants and for humanity; her study with the late great herbalist Michael Moore; her nerdy passion for botany, wild plants, and plant families; her years of experience making herbal medicines; her reverence for the wisdom of the ancients; and her belief that we all have access to the healing wisdom of the plant world simply by virtue of the fact that we are alive and share consciousness with all life.

What our students are saying:

Ana Chacon in fornt of plant holding flower

"The course helped me get back in touch with the plant allies of my culture and the healing ways of my people. It challenged me to connect with plants intellectually through botanical and practical understanding, intuitively through impressions and tastings, and instinctually through multiple encounters with various plants. I encourage anyone who feels a strong pull to begin healing themselves and their loved ones with the wisdom of nature to take this class. Those who see plants as friends or simply more than just pretty things to look at will be encouraged to develop their relationship with the land. Those looking for spiritual development aligned with Madre Tierra will be encouraged to do so safely."

Emily Parker sitting cross-legged on a rock outside
"I feel like magic in the plant kingdom is suddenly visible and real. I recommend her course to anyone wanting to learn more than plants and uses. This course deepened my admiration for plants and made me feel confident in how to work with them correctly and respectfully. My gardens have changed from pretty to useful, my home library is FULL of plant ID books, and now I know I am never alone in a forest as long as a I can find a plant I know. Life as I knew it has been changed forever. 10/10 would recommend."
