A note from Ginger:
Cottonwood is an indicator of above ground or underground water here in the western part of the US. Look for the deltoid shaped leaves on the ground and the cotton-like fluff in the breeze, especially when you are near a river or creek. Cottonwood medicine made with bark or leaves is cooling, anti-inflammatory, and pain-relieving.
