Prickly Pear cactus or Nopal is widespread, easily cultivated, and incredibly useful. Nopal has been a food staple for millenia throughout indigenous cultures of the Mexico, the southwest US , and beyond. It has an overall protective and nourishing effect on the cardiovascular system, helping to keep blood sugar issues regulated, and decreasing the cardiovascular issues associated with diabetes and high blood sugar / insulin.

Ginger Webb has been practicing herbalism for nearly 30 years, as a community herbalist, clinical herbalist, herbal medicine maker, wild plant lover, botanist, and teacher. She has trained scores of people to be herbalists through her programs at Sacred Journey School of Herbalism.
