Medicinal Minute: Tragia

A note from Ginger:

Not medicinal, but one that is mistaken for a medicinal. This is one of those stinging plants that folks call "nettle" -- anything that stings is called "nettle" around here. In herbalism when we talk about "nettles", we are referring to a species of Urtica in the Urticaceae. To differentiate the two, Urtica has alternate leaves and is an upright herbaceous plant; Tragia has alternate leaves and grows like a vine.
