Medicinal Minute: Oxalis

A note from Ginger:

Wood Sorrel's 3 leaflets are distinctly heart shaped, making them easily distinguishable from clover's 3 egg-shaped leaflets. Once you see it, you won't mistake them! Fortunately, neither is toxic. Clover tastes green and is chock full of minerals. Wood sorrel is sour, and contains oxalic acid. "Oh no!" people say "Isn't oxalic acid dangerous if you eat too much of it? We must keep it from the children!" I assure you, there is more oxalic acid in a serving of spinach than in a wood sorrel snack. It is important for kids to get to experience wild food! Let them eat Oxalis!
